So you're wondering how that big Wednesday golf match between Jesse Ventura and Dean Barkley came out?

Barkley won.

"Jesse played well, but I was on my game,'' said Barkley.

If you'll recall, the winner of the match supposedly would NOT run for Senate as an Independent candidate against Republican Norm Coleman and DFLer Al Franken.

So will Ventura run? 

"If he feels like it,'' said Barkley, who Ventura appointed to serve a 60-day fill-in term as U.S. senator after the October 2002 death of Paul Wellstone.

Actually, Barkley is out of the race on two counts. He not only won the match, but he also accepted a new job that will keep him busy.  Barkley, who had been driving a bus, now is CEO of Transit Team, the bus company for which he drove.

"I couldn't pass up that opportunity,'' Barkley said.

But that doesn't mean he wouldn't have time to manage Ventura's campaign if the former governor decided to get in the race.

"He's easy to manage, because he doesn't listen anyhow,'' said Barkley.

Will he or won't he?

"We talked about it,'' said Barkley. "He hasn't changed. Part of him wants to, but part of him doesn't want to leave the lifestyle he has now. He'll make up his mind at the last minute.''

That likely means late in the day on July 15, the final day for filing.
