City's 'magicians' working to fix foul-tasting water

Just hold your nose and drink. Really, the water won't hurt you.

Minneapolis officials,  who have been swamped with calls about the foul taste and smell of the city's water in the last few days, say that the problem will soon be solved by magicians at the city's water treatment plants. Workers at the plants are making treatment "adjustments'' that will remove the materials that cause "undesirable tastes and odors.''

Because Minneapolis water comes from the Mississippi River, there are all manner of things,  ranging from run-off water upstream to naturally occurring algae and aquatic plants, that can change water taste. This is an unusual time of the year for the bad tasting water.  But even if it tastes bad and smells worse, it won't hurt you, officials say. — Doug Grow
