The glamour of a presidential campaign? Consider the schedule of presumptive Republican nominee John McCain during his overnight in the Twin Cities beginning this afternoon:

He'll arrive in the Twin Cities, from Michigan, sometime after 4 p.m. He'll wave to TV cameras and head to the McCain headquarters in St. Paul. It's expected that he'll be accompanied by Gov. Tim Pawlenty and his spouse on the ride from the airport to the campaign headquarters. (No one is saying whether there'll be conversation about the vice presidency during the car ride.) 

After shaking hands with supporters at the headquarters, McCain will do a Virginia town hall meeting, via telephone, at 6 p.m. Central time. Then, his schedule appears open until 10 a.m. Friday, when he will do an invitation-only town-hall meeting in Hudson, Wis., to discuss women and the economy.

Following that meeting, he'll jump in a car, or bus,  and head to the Eau Claire airport. Typically, he stops at a coffee shop or two for handshaking on such trips. From Eau Claire, he'll go to his home state, Arizona for several scheduled events before spending the night at a "cabin'' he owns near Phoenix. — Doug Grow
