DFL 3rd Congressional District candidate Ashwin Madia reported a strong second-quarter fundraising figure of $692,940.
It appears Madia has slightly outraised his Republican opponent, state Rep. Erik Paulsen, who issued a press release last week saying he would report more than $600,000 for the quarter.
Based on the two press releases, Paulsen apparently leads in cash-on hand with $1.1 million to $738,149 for Madia.
The 3rd District race, for the vacancy created by the retirement of U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad, is presumed to be the closest U.S. House race in Minnesota and a top race in the national House picture.
