    Controversy is swirling around Gen. Colin Powell, President Bush’s former secretary of state, over reports that he would be attending the Democratic National Convention and might be planning to endorse Barack Obama.

    Oprah Winfrey, an early – and very public – supporter of Barack Obama, has decided to maintain a more low-key role at the nominee's acceptance speech to avoid deflecting any attention, the Los Angeles Times is reporting.
