    Bachmann, two campaign opponents appearing at Monday forum

    There really are three candidates running for Congress in the 6th District. For the first time in this campaign, incumbent Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann will appear with DFL challenger Elwyn Tinklenberg and Bob Anderson of the Independence Party at a forum at 6 p.m. Monday at the Monticello Community Center.

    Both Tinklenberg, who has the official Independence Party endorsement, and Anderson have been chiding Bachmann for her refusal to participate in forums or debates.   At this point, at least, Bachmann has agreed to share a platform with her foes just once more in the campaign, on an Oct. 29 Minnesota Public Radio Forum.

    "She has plenty of time to go on 'Larry King Live' but not time to answer her constituents' questions,'' said Tinklenberg campaign manager Ana Richey.

    The low-budget Tinklenberg campaign and the even lower-budget Anderson effort have been expecting a Bachmann advertising blitz soon. She can afford it, with more than $1.4 million ready to be spent.
