    Twin Cities Amnesty International holding vigil today protesting Georgia execution

    Minnesota doesn't have the death penalty, but members of the Twin Cities chapter of Amnesty International will hold a vigil today to protest the execution of a Georgia inmate.

    They'll be on the St. Paul end of the Lake Street/Marshall Avenue Bridge at 4:30 p.m. to protest the scheduled Monday execution of Troy Davis, who was convicted of killing a police officer in Savannah, Ga., in 1989. Supporters who say Davis is innocent say it's a matter of mistaken identity.

    The U.S. Supreme Court last week refused to hear a final appeal. Amnesty International calls the death penalty a violation of human rights.
