McCollum seeking fifth term against Matthews in low-key 4th District race

By Joe Kimball | Published Wed, Oct 22 2008 1:40 pm

There hasn't been much news about the 4th Congressional District race, where Rep. Betty McCollum is seeking her fifth term in a low-key race against Republican Ed Matthews, a CPA. But this just in from Alexandria, Va.:

The National Community Pharmacists Association is endorsing McCollum. The group calls her "a powerful advocate for Minnesota and America's community pharmacies and the patients they serve." The organization, founded in 1898, represents the owners of more than 23,000 pharmacies.

McCollum also lists these other endorsements: Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, Minnesota AFL-CIO, National Education Association, American Nurses Association, Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, Alliance for Retired Americans, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Sierra Club, VFW Political Action Committee and the Humane Society Legislative Fund.

For his part, Matthews list these endorsements: Fraternal Order of Police, National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors, Minnesota Taxpayers League, Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, Republican Party of Minnesota, Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Minnesota and the Republican Liberty Caucus.
