Two Ramsey County libraries will be open late Tuesday for special election-night parties. Folks can gather and watch the returns starting at 8 p.m. at the Roseville and Maplewood branches.
 
They'll include local and state races, with live coverage from two local public access televisions, along with reports on the national races.

Also promised: "Special guest interviews, candidate commentaries, fun, games and kids' crafts, all celebrating the spirit of democracy."

And free refreshments, although a library official wasn't sure this morning of what those refreshments might be.

If the returns aren't going your way, you can always hide in the stacks with a novel.

But what if the race for, say, some Soil and Water Conservation commissioner, goes into the wee hours?

"We'll stay open all night if people want to stay and watch," said Kristi Saksvig, communications director for the libraries. "But if it turns into hanging chads or something, I guess we'd probably go home at some point."

The Roseville library is at 2180 N. Hamline Ave., and the Maplewood library is at 3025 Southlawn Drive.
