    Saints score big with award for Larry Craig 'bobblefoot' promotion

    Hooray for the St. Paul Saints, our local minor-league baseball team and East Metro hot spot for sports, entertainment and politics.

    They were honored today by Ballparkdigest.com for the "Promotion of the Year."

    Not exactly an Oscar, but how can you go wrong making fun of Idaho Sen. Larry Craig, he of the tapping foot in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

    Perhaps you remember, the Saints gave away 2,500 "bobblefoot" dolls on May 25. This was in response to the plethora of bobbleheads cluttering the sports premium market.

    Ostensibly, the idea was to honor "tap dancing," because May 25 is National Tap Dance Day all across America, including in men's rooms.

    But the Saints took Tap Dance Day to another level. A lower level.

    The Saints gave away a toy with a bathroom stall and a foot poking out, tapping up and down.

    The Saints drew more than 7,000 fans for the game and giveaway, and people began lining up at 9 a.m. to get the souvenir.

    Who says sports and politics don't' mix?

    Congrats to the Saints for such highbrow bathroom humor.
