St. Paul's water guru -- Steve Schneider, general manager of St. Paul Regional Water Services -- has been appointed to the board of directors of the national Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies. He's the first St. Paulite to sit on the 20-member board in the 27-year history of the group, which is made up of managers of the country's big publicly owned water systems.
“I’m honored to be part of such a valued and influential organization,” said Schneider. He has a one-year term, but will be eligible for a three-year reappointment in 2009.
The association works with Congress and federal agencies to ensure safe and cost-effective federal drinking water laws and regulations.
The St. Paul Regional Water Services supplies drinking water to more than 415,000 residents in Saint Paul and the surrounding communities of Arden Hills, Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, Roseville, Maplewood, Mendota Heights and West St. Paul.
