City officials in Red Wing deny that police there are targeting cars being driven out of the Prairie Island Indian Community and, in fact, don't seem to understand the allegations made by the tribal council.

The Red Wing Republican Eagle reports that a letter from the tribal council to city officials says "community members, employees and patrons leaving the area have been arbitrarily profiled in traffic stops and investigations."

Red Wing Police Chief Tim Sletten says: "Absolutely not." And he said he was left perplexed by the two-sentence letter. The letter was so vague, "it's difficult to tell what the council's referring to," he said.

The city and tribal leaders say they will meet to discuss the matter.
