    Sheryl Ramstad reappointed to Minnesota Tax Court

    Gov. Tim Pawlenty has reappointed Sheryl Ramstad to another six-year term on the Minnesota Tax Court. She's been on the court since 2003.

    The Tax Court hears appeals filed by taxpayers relating to any state or local tax, except special assessments. The Tax Court consists of three judges appointed by the governor.

    Ramstad, sister of former 3rd District Congressman Jim Ramstad, lives in St. Paul. She had been commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Corrections from 1999 to 2003. Before that, she was a partner in the Rider Bennett law firm in Minneapolis.

    She'd been a district judge in Hennepin County from 1982 to 1986, an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Minnesota from 1979 to 1982 and an assistant Hennepin County public defender from 1975 to 1978.
