You could be the next U.S. attorney

By Cynthia Dizikes | Published Fri, Jan 30 2009 8:10 am

    WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Looking for a job?

Minnesota's lone Senator, Amy Klobuchar, is now officially on the lookout for the state's next U.S. attorney.

On Thursday, Klobuchar announced the formation of an advisory committee to assist her in the search.

The committee will be chaired by Lucinda Jesson, who is a professor at Hamline Law School in St. Paul and served as chief deputy county attorney for Hennepin County. She will be joined by former U.S. Attorney Tom Heffelfinger, attorneys Tom Johnson and Craig Nelson, Tim O'Malley, the superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and Edward Toussaint Jr., chief judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Last January, the Justice Department named Frank Magill as the acting U.S. attorney for Minnesota. Magill replaced former U.S. Attorney Rachel Paulose, who resigned amid criticism over her management style and allegations that she mishandled classified information.

Note on applications: Those wishing to be considered for the position of U.S. Attorney should submit letters of interest by Feb. 11 to:  Chair Lucinda Jesson, U.S. Attorney Advisory Committee, Office of Senator Amy Klobuchar, 1200 Washington Ave. S., Suite 250, Minneapolis, MN 55415.  Letters may also be e-mailed to ljesson01@gw.hamline.edu.
