    New Minnesota website goes live: Follow the money

    A new state website that will track state payments was unveiled today. Its bureaucratic name is "The Transparency and Accountability Project for Minnesota (TAP Minnesota)."

    “Taxpayers are paying the bills and they should have the ability to easily look at the state’s checkbook.  I encourage citizens to use this website to become watchdogs and help us make government more efficient and effective," Pawlenty said.

    You can track payments to school districts, health care providers and local units of government.

    One deficiency I noted: It apparently works with Internet Explorer, and I use FireFox, so I wasn't able to get in. Yet.
