Gov. Tim Pawlenty will be in Rothsay, Minn., Thursday to help kick off an ambitious community project: cutting energy use by 10 percent.
Working with their local utility, Ottertail Power, the community's power use will be monitored for the next five years to see whether a single community can make a difference when it comes to reducing energy consumption.
Rothsay, in west central Minnesota, has a population of 500.
The power company is providing incentives, including rebates, free products to help save energy and free weatherization for qualifying households.
There's also a chance for someone to win a home energy makeover valued at $12,000.
The kickoff is Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the school gym.
