    Building for mental-health services and graduate-level training named for former Rep. Jim Ramstad

    Former Rep. Jim Ramstad, known for his advocacy of mental health and addiction issues in Congress, will be honored Saturday by the Adler Graduate School.

    At a dinner in Minnetonka Beach, the Adler school -- which offers master's level classes in the mental-health and social-service fields -- also will introduce its Jim Ramstad Community Service Center in Richfield. The center will house the existing Adler school and a coming expansion that will offer mental health-related services for low-income, uninsured and under-insured Twin Cities residents.

    The school plans to close on the new space in the fall and begin work on the community center expansion. Ramstad has been offered an office in the center.

    A host of dignitaries, including Wheelock Whitney, Kathleen Blatz,  former Vice President Walter Mondale and his, wife Joan, are expected to attend the tribute dinner at the Lafayette Club.
