    Entenza makes it official: He's running for governor

    Matt Entenza is making it official this morning: The former St. Paul DFL legislator will run for governor in 2010.

    His website notes that the announcement is at the high school in Worthington, with his high school English teacher at his side. It was scheduled for 8:10 a.m.

    (There was some confusion on my part early this morning; the website story is dated Wednesday at 10 p.m., making it appear that the announcement had come Wednesday morning in Worthington. But when the Worthington paper and none of the Twin Cities media had the story, it became clear the announcement actually was today. Bridget Cusick of the Entenza campaign said they were so excited that they put the item up on the page a bit early.)

    Why Worthington? Entenza said on the web page: "I grew up here, learning about the power of community, surrounded by teachers and coaches and others who helped keep me going after my alcoholic father left our family. It's where I learned about following your dreams and where I got a terrific education that enabled me to go on to get scholarships and go to college."
