    More meetings planned for Stillwater bridge project

    The unabridged debate on plans for a new bridge across the St. Croix River near Stillwater continues next month, with public hearings in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

    They are

    • July 15 at Stillwater Area High School, 5701 Stillwater Blvd. N., in Oak Park Heights.
    • July 16 at Somerset High School, 645 Sunset Drive, in Somerset, Wis.

    Both will be an open house format, from 5 to 7 p.m., with staff from MnDOT, WisDOT and consultants on hand to address questions and share information about the project status. There will be no formal presentations.

    Latest plans call for starting construction on the bridge in 2013, with work expected to take three years. State officials, though, note that the timing may change, depending on a number of factors, including the availability of funding from Wisconsin.
