    Aging workforce could plague southern Minnesota

    Tim Penney, the former congressman who's now president of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, is worried that there aren't enough up-and-coming workers to replace those ready to retire.

    Speaking at Riverland Community College in Austin, Penney said that the southern part of the state is aging faster than the metro area, says the Rochester Post-Bulletin.

    Penny said there aren't enough high school kids graduating to replace the retirees and his organization, which works on economic development issues in a 20-county area, wants to bring issues related to the "aging wave" into public policy.
