I think an impressive percentage of States have tried to create jobs. Someone will come up with an outdated (partisan) approach, and try to apply it to today.

It is a stressful time - calling for dynamic and non-traditional action to put folks back to work. Believe about 5,000 can go to work on a new Vikings stadium, if it were to be seriously considered, solidifying a great inner core economy for our city, keeping our great team here and creating an economic engine for long term stability. Placing State regulated and reasonably taxed (recognizing that the current gaming cartel pays zero dollars in gaming tax and only a reasonable tax rate would enable fiscal viability to compete in such an environment) slot machines at the two operating State licensed racetracks could fund the bond issue needed and provide a bit of additional tax revenue for other projects. No expansion of gaming, since both tracks already offer gaming, limited overall threat to currently operating Native American facilities statewide, and a State Racing Commission already in place to provide oversight. Additionally, each track would invest significant additional capital in Minnesota and also create a magnitude of new jobs. It would also be quickest to market in generating a revenue stream! No new taxes, just great benefits - Give it a thought!

i have a solution to minnesota's budget problems and a way to create thousands of jobs. two large oil fields have been discovered in north dakota and montana - possibly more oil then in the middle east. how can minnesota profit from oil in north dakota. minnesota should eliminate environmental laws to allow private investers to build oil refineries in northern minnesota. oil could be pumped by pipeline or trucked from north dakota and the canadian oil sands. the oil could be refined into gas and oil and pumped to suppliers. this would not only ensure minnesota has cheap and abundant energy but also create thousands of high paying jobs. it would create all kinds of jobs everything from truck drivers to doctors. where there is energy developement there is growth and prosperity. there is no recession or deficits in texas. texas is creating jobs and has a budget surplus. minnesota could be the texas of the north. northern minnesota could be changed from a depressed area to a place where children could remain where they grew up and raise a family, instead of having to leave home and go to more prosperous areas to find a job. LET US NOT LET ALL THE WEALTH IN NORTH DAKOTA TO SLIP THRU OUR FINGERS.
