    Rep. Walz town meeting on Afghanistan is Friday in Winona

    As violence in Afghanistan continues and U.S. leaders debate a new strategy in the war, 1st District Congressman Tim Walz has announced a town hall meeting on the issue Friday in Winona.

    Said Walz:

    “Afghanistan is one of the most important issues that we face today. The lives of our sons and daughters, our husbands and wives, our friends and neighbors are on the line and we owe our brave men and women in uniform a fully engaged public debate on the future of our strategy there. I have heard from a number of southern Minnesotans on this critical issue and I look forward to hearing more from them next Friday.”

    Details: Friday, noon to 1:30 p.m., at Somsen Hall Auditorium, Winona State University, 175 West Mark St., Winona.
