Politico also offers a summary of the major policy differences between reform bills in the House and Senate, including the public option, individual and employer mandates, tax subsidies and negotiating Medicare drug costs.

"The House bill requires the secretary of Health and Human Services to seek the lowest-cost drugs on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries," Politico reports. "In the Senate, the $80 billion deal between the industry and the White House is believed to preclude the government from negotiating lower prices with drug companies. Some Senate Democrats have already signaled their intent to target the deal when the bill hits the floor."
