    Pawlenty will sign bonding bill, but with line-item vetoes

    Gov. Tim Pawlenty said today he'll sign the hefty bonding bill approved by the Legislature, but not all of its components will survive.

    He was in Moorhead checking out flood preparations and spoke to the Fargo Forum.

    After a veto threat, legislators added some, but not all, of the money Pawlenty wants for updating the sex-offender program site in Moose Lake, but the billion-dollar bill is still larger than Pawlenty's hoped-for $750 million or so.

    The governor said he hadn't decided what to trim:

    "The bonding bill incorporates most of our key priorities. It's still too large but it's a bill we can work with and we'll just have to slim it down to something that is more reasonable and responsible and affordable."
