WASHINGTON, D.C. –Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said today what many Minnesota Democrats have been saying for some time.

“[Al Franken] is doing pretty well,” Reid said. “This should have been over a long time ago.”

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., said that he was confident that Franken’s lead over Norm Coleman would continue to increase. Then he took a jab at the former Republican senator.

“Coleman is getting a little bit desperate,” said Schumer.

Both senators stopped short of saying there would any move to seat Franken before the legal battle runs its course. But Schumer did have this prediction: “This should all be finished by the beginning of April,” he said.
