Nearly $7 million in leftover funds raised by the Minneapolis/St. Paul 2008 Host Committee for last year's national gathering will soon be headed to three local foundations:  the St. Paul Foundation, the Minneapolis Foundation and the Minnesota Community Foundation.

Less than 48 hours after the polls closed in his victorious Minneapolis mayoral race, R.T. Rybak announced to his supporters today that he has filed paperwork with the state to create an R.T. Rybak for Governor Committee.

U.S. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus said Monday that although senators are still negotiating on whether a controversial fee on medical-device makers will be in the final version of health-care reform, he thinks the industry should pay its fair share.

The St. Paul mayor says he has more work to do in the capital city, but he also indicates that he thinks he could have won a state-wide race.

Last year, during the weekend before the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, multiple federal and local law enforcement agencies undertook a coordinated drive against protesters they would later describe in court records as "disruption mode."
