To our readers:
I am pleased to report that MinnPost.com's readership is growing rapidly.
Over the past two weeks our average weekday traffic is almost 8,000 visits a day, an increase of about 30 percent compared with the same period in January, and more than 50 percent above December's traffic. During the past month, MinnPost.com has had more than 75,000 unique visitors. (These numbers are the average of the measurements provided by Webalizer and Google Analytics. We use the average because we think the former overestimates our traffic and the latter underestimates it.)
According to Alexa.com, an independent ranking service, MinnPost.com has substantially more traffic than any other Twin Cities independent news site not affiliated with a print or broadcast medium.
Other measures are also promising. The number of people taking our daily email alert now exceeds 3,300 and continues to grow at about 10 percent per month. New donors continue to sign up to support MinnPost's message that high-quality journalism is not just a consumer good but a community asset, worthy of your tax-deductible support. We are also signing up more advertisers, including some who are re-upping and signing longer-term contracts.
Whether you are already one of our nearly 800 donors or not, I hope you will join us on Tuesday evening April 1 for the first annual MinnRoast, an evening of frolic, fundraising and mischief at the Graves 601 Hotel in downtown Minneapolis.
The MinnRoast theme is "Journalists and politicians gently skewered." Among the scheduled performers will be Cyndy Brucato, Paul Douglas and the mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Go to our MinnRoast page to see all the details and order tickets online. This is an evening you don't want to miss.
Finally, if you would like to share your thoughts about MinnPost with me directly, please email me at jkramer@minnpost.com.
