12/08/09: This week's Minnesota news from other media

    By MinnPost staff

Fergus Falls native Chad Daniels, a comedian, will appear on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" tonight [Tuesday, Dec. 8], writes Tom Hintgen in the Fergus Falls Daily Journal. After graduating from Fergus Falls High School 16 years ago, Daniels moved to California before settling in Minneapolis, the story says, getting his start performing during open-mic nights at Acme Comedy Company.

By May 2011, the six high rises subsidized by the Duluth Housing and Rehabilitation Authority will go smoke-free, reports Brandon Stahl in the Duluth News-Tribune. The story quotes HRA Director Rick Ball as saying smoking will be disallowed in all 752 units, as well as hallways and public areas, where smoking is already banned.

The Moorhead City Council heard good news at a Monday meeting, reports Dave Olson in the Fargo/Moorhead Inforum. "City Manager Michael Redlinger said new numbers show the taxable value of property in the city has grown about $93 million, with most of that coming from new growth, as well as revised assessments on commercial property," the story says.
