Cass Lake-Bena School District Superintendent Carl Eugene Remmers, 65, has been charged in Beltrami County District Court with one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, reports Anne Williams in the Bemidji Pioneer. If convicted, Remmers could face up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. The story says Remmers has been placed on administrative leave.

Christa Lawler reports in the Duluth News-Tribune, "Hermantown Police Chief Mike Anderson has resigned, according to Mayor Wayne Boucher. City Administrator John Mulder said Anderson had been under investigation." The article says that Anderson worked for the police department for 14 years and served as chief for about 2½ years before resigning last week. It adds, "Mulder wouldn't say what Anderson was being investigated for, but said the investigation would not be completed now that Anderson has resigned."

The Douglas County Board's plan to remodel the courthouse received a green light from the Alexandria City Council Monday night," reports Al Edenloff in the Alexandria Echo Press. The article says, "The council approved a preliminary planned unit development, a zoning district amendment and a conditional use permit for the work. The project will expand the courts' holding facility, relocate the sheriff's office, demolish the old Central School pool and expand the adjacent parking area."

"Minnesota's new angel tax credit has already begun drawing investors, including one that plans to move into the Elk Run biotechnology project in Pine Island," Jeff Hansel reports in the Rochester Post-Bulletin. He writes that "The legislative intent was to spur investment in Minnesota biotech startup companies that will grow within the state."

The Fountain City River Players will mark their 21st summer musical production when "Grease" opens Wednesday in the Fountain City, Wis., Municipal Auditorium, reports Jerome Christenson in the Winona Daily News. The play will run through Aug. 1.
