Well, since you started the Lebowski lines, I like these:

"Phone's ringing dude."
"Thank you Donny."

Pawlenty: "I had coffee with him this morning." Stinson: "I don't drink coffee."

That's the Potter Center for the Arts in Chatfield. I'm not sure if calling it a "pottery museum" is Drazkowski's continuation of the pattern of demeaning this project started by Pawlenty or an editing mistake.

This is clearly a constitutional issue - couldn't the legislature craft and pass a constitutional amendment and bypass Pawlenty? That would take time and then would have to be ratified by a majority of voters, but is more viable than expecting to override the inevitable veto.

Posted on 02/14/10 at 10:34 am in response to Bachmann clarifies

The fundamental problem with Ryan and Bachmann's proposals is that they do not solve the demographic bubble that is at the heart of the the problem. SS and Medicare are primarily pay as you go programs, all talk of "lockboxes" and "trust funds" notwithstanding. The problem is that we will have a graying population of aging and retiring baby boomers and a smaller workforce to support these entitlements. "Keeping faith" with those near retirement and modifying it for everyone else means...

Yes, the caucus night is no time for nuance!

Interestingly, the premise of the 2005 Powerline piece is that Mondale has hit bottom because his 2005 position is inconsistent with his 1975 position, which is now his 2010 position.

I expect that if I go digging for a few minutes, I will find a number of folks who were in favor of invoking the nuclear option in the context of D filibusters of R judicial nominees lauding the importance of the filibuster in the context of their 59-41 minority status.

There's no pretense on...

I think self-reports of "newslessness" aren't completely accurate either. Here's a thought experiment - actively try to _avoid_ all news for a day or two. That means all news - sports news, websites like Yahoo with news headlines, etc. Really try to avoid news, and I think you'll see were really rather swimming in it. What we lack is sustained engagement with the news, thought about the news, synthesizing the news with history and analysis.

The primary will move up because it has to - new federal requirements increasing the amount of time overseas military voters have to cast a ballot will mean that the primary will move up a month or so.

Mr. Bidwell, you are aware that Rep. Bachmann _made the reference_, right? You know, that reference that "is at the tip of everyone's tongue?"
