Here's my related analysis, conducted prior to my decision to challenge Michele Bachmann in the 2008 Republican primary:

"For Clark, her mission is to close the gap. Getting Bachmann under 50 percent is a big move ..."
That's not a very good analysis. Its major flaw is that it fails to account for the fact that the first poll (Public Policy Polling ) surveyed a hypothetical head-to-head contest between Bachmann and Clark, whereas the KSTP/SurveyUSA poll offered respondents a choice among all four candidates on the November ballot.
Here's a comparison of the two sets of poll results. If the table...
"... the Bachmann-Clark race ... also includes independent candidates Bob Anderson (who is endorsed by the Independence Party) and Aubrey Immelman."
To clarify, in addition to the Republican and Democratic candidates, the race also includes a third major-party candidate (Independence Party nominee Bob Anderson) and an unaffiliated, nonpartisan, independent candidate (Aubrey Immelman).
@Doug . . . nice kicker.
Best wishes, Tom. You have a good man in your corner with Sen. Durenberger. I look forward to lending a hand in the 6th CD.
UPDATE RE: "Rep. Michele Bachmann, R incumbent in the 6th (the prohibitive favorite, though she's facing another primary challenge from Aubrey Immelman)"
The Republican Party has veered too hard-right and the rhetoric of its standard-bearers has become too extremist and conspiracy-driven for me to support it in good conscience at the present time.
I have therefore decided to throw my weight behind the Independence Party of Minnesota this election cycle.
I will address...
From the article: "Officials with both the Clark and Reed campaigns said they plan to run against Bachmann on her celebrity status ..."
That's fluff. The real issue is Bachmann's protofascist status.

This rare recognition has been a long time coming; in the inaugural edition of CNN American Morning's "Wingnuts of the Week" segment, John Avlon named U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann a charter member of the Wingnut Hall of Fame on May 8, 2009.

This is the second year...
Paul Brandon says: "Let's see what happens when Clark or Reed are running against Bachmann instead of against each other."
That may not be until after the September 14 Minnesota state primary election, which gives the Democratic contenders more than nine months in 2010 to attack each other and about six weeks to fight Bachmann.
The poll results are consistent with my own macropolitical analysis of the MN-06 outlook for 2010, conducted in July 2009:
http://www.immelman.us/news/can-a-democrat-beat-bachmann/
It's also consistent with a Rasmussen poll, conducted in November 2009, which found Bachmann's *statewide* job approval rating to be 51 percent, with 45 percent...
