"I have wondered whether some genius in Lefty Message Central is working on a killer response."

I am very late to this post. But never too late to laugh out loud at the EB quote above. "Leadership" of the "Democrat Party" has been notably MIA for several years.

I just returned from time away from the Metro area to (re)discover that absolutely nothing has changed, and that nothing of substance is coming out of the DFL. I understand it is nigh unto heresy to speak this essential...

An excellent closing paragraph! I am a Punto fan, and it's an excellent quote! :)

Yesterday, a friend and I visited the Russian Art Museum on Diamond Lake Road. I suggested we have lunch at the Malt Shop, since he'd never eaten there. Imagine my astonishment as I approached Lyndale Avenue from the east only to discover 50th Street blocked off and filled with squads, firetrucks, firefighters, equipment and the gnarly business of getting an out-of-control fire under control. Lots of smoke. Spiky flames. Uffdah.

I grew up in that 'hood. It's a nostalgic place that I...

"Being a self-hating liberal whose mind is so open my brains have fallen out, I usually do a lot of back-and-forthing."

Okay, I'm totally laughing out loud. Wish I'd said that. I can absolutely relate!

I thought it was a terrific speech. Whoever called it "flat" is practicing polarized grinching. Whatever else the far right, near right, far left and those who don't know where the hell they are might say about it, "flat" is just wrong. I sensed under the articulate...

Monday morning. Dreary day in Mudville. Even so, it was a great ride. We had so much fun (and so many jangled nerves) this season. The Vikes are incomparable with regard to generating belly butterflies, aren't they?

Could they have won? Really? We'll never know. And if they had . . . ? How many cardiac episodes would that have generated?

And then there's this. Got an email earlier this morning from the Vikes, offering discounted Brett Favre merchandise. Yesterday's hero....

Oh, man, what a delicious romp that was, up to and including the unnecessary, overkill TD. Bad form. Bad boys. Bwahahaha!

My mother was a Vikes charter season ticket holder. So my family has been in this from the get-go.

Earlier incarnations of the Vikes have played Lucy with our Charlie Brown hearts. Somehow, we have lived with the scorn (much of it our own, actually) and showed up to take another run at this.

It scares the billy hell out of me to take a public...

As usual, I'm late to the MinnPost party. Mr. D., your wife is right. The Republican party of our yesteryears (yours and mine) is an almost laughable reincarnation.

Like you, I grew up and voted Republican. It was the family way of doing things.

Eventually, I figured out that Republican values were slanting off so far to the right and the ridiculous (at least some of the time) that I could not be part of that any longer.

And so I'm not.

Dems are a fractious lot...

Yeah, what Peter said. You make me laugh, Mr. K., even as you prep us for the upcoming battle o'the titans. I'm nervous about this. Does throwing up really help?

"...it's important to understand that pandemic criteria are defined by activity rates (how many people are infected simultaneously over a number of regions) and not by mortality rates. A pandemic virus by definition is highly infective but isn't necessarily lethal."

Key concept, not well understood by public. Including me. Thanks for clarity on this.

Thanks, Susan!! I so hoped he'd do just that! It is a measure of my current news preference that I go to MinnPost first and generally don't get to Strib until much later in the day, if at all. Sad, really. But there you have it. Rhetorical.
