MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
I'm not a supporter of dead animal portraits - or dead people portraits be it here or in the Mid-East.
But there is a frozen-in-time reality here; cougar and man. Take a moment of silence, so to speak, to remember all the dead rabbits and birds and somebody's dead domestic cat or dog who possibly, 'existentially', could just be applauding silently in the background?
You could say too, everybody sees what they want to see... and of course if one wants to look on the brighter...
There are no gods before us:
Hegal does have many ideas I can't support, you betcha, but give the man a little respect for having the capacity to change his mind on a most crucial issue.
How many men carry around forever, the same 'ol rucksack of certainties... yet Hegal changed his mind. I accept that with a wee bit of hope.
Wellstone was an honorable man and we who knew him, respected him...but he too made a few mistakes like...standing before the Vietnam Wall of...
"Try putting a little more humility in our goals...":
Hagel is a good man; a wise fellow. Can't put my 'mind' on it exactly, but there's a little of Paul Wellstone in Chuck Hagel's honesty and direct approach to the political scene. He faces up to our contradictions.
Always respected the man and when he speaks of "a little more humility"... try combining the word 'Military' with the word "Humanity" and you get a refreshing new word; maybe even a new attitude..."...
And a burst of theocracy hit me in the face:
Yes indeed, totalitarian theocrats are one scary bunch. They can wreck a whole nation as theocratic governments have in the Mideast, eh?
So why keep covering the same ol' story of our political circuit-riding governor and his born again followers?
Guess it must be the media titillated by the testimonial tent atmosphere.
At least wait 24 hours before you report, or abort on Tim-the-sinner-born-again and his too...
And as to the ACORN story...pretty hard for anyone to defend this mess, allegedly or otherwise, although it looks Rep-Right didn't have a hard time finding a couple of their own stand-in pimp/prostitutes to do the honors and sounded pretty professional for amateurs... " All the world's a stage and we are but..."? So how did they know so much about the foul-funded prostitution potential existing in the first place...been there done that, eh?.
Remember too that D.C. is considered by...
The tragedy of independant farmers is sad indeed...but I can only respond with trivia notes out of some unexplained curiousity...is the 'aft' of the cow in the first article, belong to the 'fore', face of Aleshire Maggie in the following story?
Then too I must add..somewhere among all the rhetoric in the related articles where Maggie-goes-to-Washington, there does appear three pigs who, by the way, are considered the most intelligent of animals; at least by vegans I suppose. And I,...
On condition of anonymity?
It sounds like a simple program, but too simple with no accountability.
Anonymity; there's the rub. Whether the callers are youth or adults, the anonymous texter (if that's the word) could have it's undesirable weak points...much like call-in bomb scares also evolving from anonymity.
False reports could be a counselor's nightmare and student-reported-on, merely a victim. Could be a catch-all for anyone somebody doesn't like. Just another way...
"Remembering a place where once there was a small but perfect fire..." Thomas McGrath
My eyes possibly deceived me, but for one moment I thought I saw Paul Wellstone, fist classically extended, moving the crowd..."All fired up and ready to go!"...
Everyone has a story of friend or family member caught up, shortchanged by the horrors of our present unaffordable healthcare system.
Maybe, if we can reach that stage when faces we acknowledge are strangers to us, and we still...
Four great points, respectfully appreciated. But there's got to be more?
So too, in honor of the man, Karl, in his autumn season:
"When the leaves fall
We see the bodies
Of those who were hanged.
But only then."...
"I Noticed Somewhere Before", a puzzle poem by the late, great, plains poet Thomas McGrath
A roving Rove soon to be roaming in Dakota country?
1:Keep him on a leash, please, on Concordia campus and carry a plastic bag to pick up after him. Come-stay-heel...but be sure he has his distemper shot.
2: And then to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at Minot's Scandinavin Hostfest? Rove is to joining the 'fame' list with names like former media-statesman Eric Severeid?
They must be running out of Scandi-Americans of worth; or the panel choosing was high on brandied...
