We cannot let the GOP get by with their constant refrain about the bad old days and how a new path is needed. Minnesota has done very well over the past 50 years by all measures of success - wealth creation, healthy people, educated people, quality infrastructure.

Now I know why that restaurant's food left a bad taste in my mouth!

To "balance" the committee, Koch and Zellers probably want some representatives from the anarchists group that endorsed their anti-government stand a couple weeks ago. Maybe Joe the Plumber too!

The great political myth of our time is that the DFL has moved to the left. Harry Truman was an advocate for national health care. If the DFL had moved as far to the left as the GOP has moved to the right, the DFL platform might call for the seizing all Target Corp and Cargill assets.

More people needing health care and education = more money needed! More concentration of income and wealth at the top = more money needed from those at the top!!

It will be interesting to see...

Kagan has already recused herself from some cases where she played an active part through her previous post in the administration. The sad thing about this story is that the republicans are stirring the pot, creating a sense of scandal where none exists. If and when these cases reach the Supreme Court, and when Justice Kagan announced her decision on whether she can participate or not, that is when this issue will be ripe for discussion.

On the other hand, there are/have been...

#9 Gavin, what we need are more people who really know these politicians exposing their contradictions. I would rather have that information than BS television ads and speeches. Doesn't the GOP say that "Character counts!"

The unfortunate thing about Pawlenty is that Minnesota thrives with moderates in the lead. A pro-business DFLer like Rudy Perpich, a social moderate/fiscal conservative like Arne Carlson. A moderate Pawlenty could have cut great deals to do positive things as...

Mr. Benson should look to his own organization's responsibility and that of the MN Chamber of Commerce for their endorsement and financial support of the legislators who side with these right wing nut jobs.

Windom is lucky to have someone like Mari promoting Windom as a place for young people! I recommend patience and persistence!

Carol's advice (#2) is excellent.

If it comes to a government shut-down, it can only help Dayton. The shut-down will be an indicator of what happens when the government cuts services to those currently provided with health and education services.

It would be very interesting for the Governor to invite the "job-creators", those who will leave Minnesota if their tax bill goes up, to a meeting at the Governor's mansion. I know that I am staying!
