MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
I think for the most part you are even handed in your approach to media in this town, but this is a little sensationalistic. You have no idea what $$$ went to Par legal defense, so how can you state this in the headline?
Your bias is showing.
Sorry, I was listening to my IPOD.
WCCO/radio is still around? Really?
I think they are overlooking their competition - which is in a death watch themselves.
One of their largest competitors is RedPlumb (owned by Valassis), a shared mail company that distributes preprints that normally would go to newspapers:

Why can't they just print a flipping newspaper like always?? Why are newspapers so screwed up? I don't want to read it on a computer and neither do my neighbors. I just want my Strib and PP delivered on my doorstep in the morning....
Sorry for the venting...but the model has worked for 200 years....
Interesting.
The Strib specifically states January statistics. But your source doesn't seem to list a time reference.
Can you elaborate?
[David replies: Thanks for the catch, Bill - I'm using the same time period. January 2009 data. It's been added to the story.]
Magazines are in worse shape than newspapers. Who is going to spend $5 for a magazine when they get the same stuff online for nada.
At least with the Strib and PP I get coupons to offset the cost.
I think a lot of media companies - including PP, Clear Channel, ADVO, Sun Newspapers - are in trouble.
Despite it's recent bad headlines, I think the Strib will be the only one left standing.
Wouldn't that be hysterical????
I didn't realize the man walked on water.
I detect a slight man-crush on Mischke....not there is anything wrong with that.
It seems all media outlets are challenged, not just the papers:
