Seperating his religion from his politics. If we want our civil government based on somebody's religious text or their interpretation of that text, who's should we chose? Seems to me Paul in the Bible counsels the slave to be a good slave and accept his lot. I'm sure 150 years ago that text (Timothy?) was used to justify slavery. I'm sure that there are still white people clinging to that interpretation. I'd like to see at least one of these Biblical literalists say that they would like...

...and like the Virgin Mary it will take a miracle to make this financing package work.

I think when most of us think of this we think of Amazon. I buy lots of CDs from Amazon and I'm sure the Electric Fetus is hoping for this to pass. I'm not thrilled with it but I can see the logic in the push for it. There is the idea though that in this economy there are many small, single-owner internet-only businesses for whom this would be a very large burden.

If it is unconstitutional as the previous commenter implied then I assume someone will take it to court. I'm sure...

Have the Minnesota Orchestra musicians made any acknowledgement that the Orchestra should at least break even financially? I admit that their proposed pay cut sounds drastic but it sorta sounds like they have been very well compensated at the cost of the financial viability of the Orchestra.

If the musicians are as hostile and touchy as you then I say too bad. Sounds to me like a pretty disfunctional place on both sides. So the strike is about EVERYTHING! I ask a question and get talked to by you like I'm a moron. What I am is someone who never attends the orchestra and could care if they are THE WORLD'S BEST or just pretty good. I generally will support the arts, especially in an environment that supports sports so much. I'd like to see 20th century creative music, Jazz,...

If that's a chip you see I have it over you, Amy. I started here asking a question out of ignorance and all I've gotten from you is smug belligerence. I came here because I'm interested in this issue, although my interests in the arts are wider than this little niche, but now I keep coming back to see what new bit of hostility you can hit me with.I don't care a lot for either side in this dispute for various reasons. I did visit those less than unbiased web sites you suggested and my...

"I have a hard time understanding why no women's advocacy organization came to the aid of Koch. A...they threw Koch and Brodkorb to the curb like old laundry."

Are you serious? She was a person in power who abused her position. As unlikeable as Brodkorb might be he was still the subordinate. If the gender roles were reversed I suspect you'd be saying he used his position to coerce her into having sex with him. I don't think my laundry smells this bad. While it may be true that...

Are you familiar with the use of language that uses metaphors and similies and things like that? I'll try to be more clear for your sake. You get married, cheat on your spouse and bad things happen to you. You just got what you deserved because it all started with your poorly chosen actions. And in this case the "privacy of their own space" included and started at and ended at their job place, our state capitol. That's not a rumor; it is a fact. Maybe they could have gotten around to...

Just kidding. That'll be the day.

Something has occurred to me in recent years when everyone seems opposed to the purpose of government and the need of citizens to support it. I came of age in the 60s when pretty much all men/boys had to face the issue of the draft. There was a war on that many of us opposed or cared little about but we were told it was our civic obligation to give two years of our lives and maybe even our lives to support the decisions of our government. Our...
