There are a couple places near there where the bike trails are so bad it feels safer to ride in the street. There is a good stretch of bike trail as wide as a narrow sidewalk that dips down into a low area and places where the surface is in bad shape. Then they have signs up to keep you off the sidewalk on the other side of the street which is in much better shape. It would be fun to get more familiar with that little lake which scores of bikers pass each day in the summer.
I bet if restaurants and other retailers were offered the level of subsidy that is being offered the Vikings there would be a lot of development near the dome or any new stadium.Rybak assumes the NFL needs a huge subsidy to put their business there but all the other businesses don't need a similar subsidy. More bull from the politicians supported by the 1%.
So what do we want? A new stadium (GO VIKES) or those annoying charities and all the lazy poor people they support? Dumb question (GO VIKES)!
I think we missed a few other unspoken assumptions that make most of these comments moot.
1. A stadium will be built with primarily public money and nothing will stand in the way. Laws for referendum will be ignored, cost is no object. Costs will be minimized and not discussed truthfully as needed.
2. At no time will the NFL or the Vikings reveal their financial contribution or gain from the stadium.
3. The Vikings will try to capture every revenue stream they can and...
Our so-called progressive governor doesn't have time to fight the Republicans on all these amendments because he needs their help to transfer a billion dollars to the NFL and some of his rich friends. Of course it is only for our own good; we're just too dumb and poor to know what's good for us, hence no referendum. Day care workers can vote but the citizens of Minneapolis can't. GO VIKES!
Google her so you can see the video that has been mentioned. I cannot see how she was ever hired to begin with. The people that hired her and then gave her that contract should be fired. Of course at Burnsville getting fired means getting sent on a two-year vacation.
There is a reason why most college staff are democrats. Educated opinions favor facts over fervor. If in order to be a republican you have to believe that global warming is a liberal conspiracy, evolution is a lie and the earth is only 5000 years old because the bible told you so, that being gay is a lifestyle choice, that we won't need birth control once we get our women fitted for iron maidens, that it is America's perogative to start wars when and where it wants because it is always...
I think the guy above who predicted 40 dollar tickets was dreamin', no offense. I bet the average ticket price is more than that now and I woulld guess the average ticket price to start will be closer to 100 dollars. No telling what it will be in 20 years or so when they start complaining about how inadequate the stadium is.
I stand with the brave Minneapolis City Counsil people who are against this without a referendum. That law should have been followed for the twins stadium too...
I guess I skimmed that comment too fast; I see what you mean now.
Wow, what an amazingly original thinker he is!
