MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
I have a document (or at least I will as soon as I print out this posting) that says that Amy Klobuchar, aka Red Amy, and Keith Ellison, aka the Iron Shiek, were John McCain's prison guards in Hanoi. Could you get more Communist? Don't most Republicans of Allen West's ilk also think that Obama is a Muslim? I think you need a security clearance from Jesus to see that documentation.
is how consistently the right denies the real reason for this bill. For all their searching for voter fraud they found one mom who voted for her daughter. It will be interesting to see if my 92-year old mom gets denied a vote because her expired drivers license doesn't have her current address at the assisted living facility
I think no fair minded person could deny that there is a greater chance of people being disenfranchised by this law than there have been documented cases of...
25000 jobs just from having bigger purses? I guess I don't buy it. I guess I could see that bigger purses would bring in more out of state horses but I don't buy that you, for instance, double the purse and you double the number of horse ranchers and their related industries.
I think that "poll after poll' shows that people would rather see racinos than have their taxes go up to support the Vikings. I think that is different than unqualified support for more gambling at the race...
Mr Tester forgets those protesters who attend people's funerals to yell, "God hates fags" at innocent, grieving families. Of course that isn't as hurtful as a glitter bomb. The opposition isn't attacking Christianity, but attacking a brand of self righteous, we're right and all other churches are wrong and going to hell brand of Christianity, ie the right wing bigotted hypocrits who hate first, justify later.
The Vikings got this deal without opening their books. Why would they do it now? Recently there was an article saying the naming rights to the stadium could be worth as much as 300 million. They just gave those rights to the Vikings without any argument. So with that future gift the vikes only have to come up with another 100m and the public comes up with 600m still. If this was a "people's" stadium you'd think the people would get that income. Rybak, Dayton and the rest couldn't run...
I often feel threatened on the freeway by distracted drivers talking on their cell phones. They could change lanes and bump me off the road causing me great bodily harm. As a person wishing to not become a victim of a crime I should be able to gun down cell phone drivers on the highway. No wonder there are so many highway fatalities due to distracted driving, this society coddles all the leftist cell phone gabbers.
My only question is does the castle doctrine only apply to guns or...
Use a weapon to stop an assault, fine, reasonable. Use a weapon because you "feel threatened"? Mr Tester feels inimidated by me because of my disagreements with his positions, so he hunts me down and kills me? Someone butts in line at the concert, turns around and dares me to say something. I feel intimidated because he is bigger than me. So I'm justified in killing him for that? I think all those right wingers who are such great literalists when it comes to bible interpretation would...
So how many millions of tax relief to Mpls residents get from our 600 million dollar gift to Ziggy? Also the 50-50 comment at the end. She says her constituents were coming in 50-50 on the stadium but every survey I've heard about had residents decidely against the public paying for this. Seems like if people weren't so opposed to this all these politicians wouldn't be jumping through semantic hoops in order to justify this end around of what was clearly the choice of the voters when they...
I wonder if amendments in the past have been so completely partisan. Seems like this method of law-making should be reserved for things there is general agreement on between the parties. All these things that are proposed by the right wing are things only they support. I don't remember anything like this in my 45 years of following Minnesota politics. Am I forgetting something? I'm wondering how any republican that supports shoving the stadium through without honoring the Minneapolis...
Let's get together and work on all those economic issues that are so important to us: gay marriage, voter id, messy affairs and coverups, slander lawsuits, expanded rights to shoot people, running our own political party like a teenager with a credit card with an unlimited credit line, giving rich people billion dollar toys (this is the one apparently bipartisan item on the list unfortunately). It's amazing how many jobs the anti-gay marriage amendment and the voter id bill will create....
