The author should learn more about bike commuters when factoring milages. There are a large number of Twin Cities cyclists that commute by bike that put on just as many miles as the suburban driver! I log over 10,000 miles a year commuting by bicycle and to ride 10-20 miles to get to my destination is a normal and almost daily occurrence.
