#6--with a hat tip to #2--

"What does it say about conservative voters that they would vote Bachmann #1 in the Iowa straw poll"

It says capitali$m was at work because votes were bought at the straw poll. The candidates purchased tickets that enabled people to vote and gave them away.

Plus, apparently, people were swayed by the great party she threw in her tent with country music singer Randy Travis as the main attraction. Perhaps her next gig will be to succeed that...

"The archdiocese has been a big supporter of a proposed constitutional amendment that will be on the state ballot in November 2012. If passed, the amendment would ban gay marriage in the state."

Mr. Kimball, gay marriage is NOW banned in Minnesota.

Quoting from the Legislative Reference Service, "the Minnesota Legislature passed its own version of what has been referred to as the Defense of Marriage Act (Laws of Minnesota 1997, Chapter 203, Article 10). The governor approved...

Same sex marriage is outlawed now in Minnesota.(Laws of Minnesota 1997, Chapter 203, Article 10). The only difference between the current law and the proposed state constitutional amendment is the manner in which the law can be rescinded. However, if the amendment fails, nothing changes. Same sex marriage remains outlawed.

I have volunteered to fight passage of the amendment. I wish that people leading the fight against the amendment would also lead in getting Chapter 203, Article...

Posted on 10/27/11 at 10:05 pm in response to 'No!' is current Capitol answer to a public subsidy for Vikings stadium

Let's assume that the revenue needed from government for the Vikings stadium comes into existence. That means government pays for 2/3 the cost of the stadium and Wilf-the-Developer-Who-Owns-an-NFL-Team-for-Development-Purposes pays 1/3 AND gets to say where the stadium is built, according to Dayton.

The minority party in a business transaction gets to decide where the stadium is built. Only in America--uh, make that "Only in plutocratic America."

#4-Jerry Buerge

". . . to do without allowing (Ramsey County residents) the simple courtesy of voting to do so is political suicide."

I wish you were correct but you are demonstrably wrong. I actively campaigned against the proposed Anoka County Viking stadium. I quit when the Hennepin County commissioners voted the sales tax without the public referendum and none of them suffered politically. I concluded that because the Hennepin County voters did not repudiate the Hennepin...

Here's one that appeared in Mr. Black's very own MinnPost on September 21 for a Joe Kimball article:

Facebook votes to determine historic preservation grants

Posted on 08/30/11 at 08:15 pm in response to Bachmann and Perry have a lot of constitutional explaining to do

Would someone please explain what the phrase, "nor prohibited by it to the States" means? I have parsed it out several times and end up concluding it's meaningless.

The Republicans stood fast in concrete not to raise anyone's taxes for the health and welfare of the State of Minnesota. Will they allow Ramsey County commissioners to raise the sales tax without a citizens' vote for the welfare of a football owner? I'm gonna love the next legislative session when they attempt to square that circle.

>“This is a misnomer, that I think the >President and the Treasury Secretary have >been trying to pass off . . . .

"Misnomer" relates to using an incorrect label or name. This is an indication of what happens when she uses words with more than two syllables--they are beyond her comprehension.

(Psst-Ms. Bachmann, the word you should have used is "misleading.")

Posted on 07/13/11 at 10:15 pm in response to Funding foe John Marty blasts sales tax formula for Vikes stadium

>Ramsey County and the state each would chip >in about $300 million . . . .

Unless Ramsey County pays in cash from its reserves, the cost will be much much more due to interest payments on bonds sold to provide the $300 million upfront. In the interest of accuracy, I suggest that whenever Ramsey County's share is reported, the statement be, "$300 million upfront from the sale of bonds and an additional $20 million each year for 30 years to repay the bonds, for a total of $900...
