The biggest obstacle for both R.T. Rybak and Chris Coleman may be the horrible economic situation. Potholes got Sharon Sayles-Belton an early retirement. Closed park buildings, fire stations and storefronts may be an even less likely springboard to the governors mansion. These crazy mayors still apparently believe that building a new Viking stadium or a new ice rink will lift us out of our financial doldrums.

Among party activists, the lingering stench over the Republican National...

Susan Gaertner would be a more credible candidate if she quit believing that raving paranoid Bob Fletcher and started following up of felony charges against some of the black-clad storm troopers who pepper-sprayed legal protesters and were caught doing so on video tape. Without that, she shows herself to be either naive or a cynical supporter or raw power against democratic freedoms.

I cannot believe how much bail-out money is being sent to American's fattest fat-cats and most predatory predators. And I cannot believe how little stimulus money is being spent to create a real infrastructure to make the country more energy independent. If this were my show to run, I would also spend major money to clean up our water supply, but I would also but anaerobic methane digesters at every sewage treatment plant in the country. It would be a win/win/win/win situation. Plumbers...

St Paul attorney John Choi is tainted by the same stain as Ramsey County prosecutor Susan Gaertner, who he hopes to replace. They both demonstrate a remarkable lack of judgment is taking Ramsey County sheriff Bob Fletcher's paranoid ravings as if they were actual legal evidence.

Of the two, Gaertner deserves the greater scorn for her support of Fletcher's lawlessness during the RNC. Not only has Gaertner continued prosecution of phony cases that clearly have no merit, she has...

I guess I gave up caring quite a few months ago. Buried deep under layers and layers of sadness and disappointment, however, I still wish I could count Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer as my senator. There clearly is no winner in this election, unless you count Mark Richie; he, at least, conducted an open and honorable recount. The entire state, in my opinion, lost big-time.

Susan Gaertner should go one step further and drop all charges. The evidence just isn't there. Dave Mindeman over at mnpACT says it all: http://www.mnpact.org/sblog/blog.php?id=1676

Your headline confused me. At first, I was certain you had written an article about raising guinea pigs in the basement for meat. That's silly, I thought. Rabbits have better meat and their poop is "shovel-ready" for that victory garden out back as well. But, whether it is basement meat or drug trials, there is certainly little dispute that we are at the beginning of a worldwide depression.

Posted on 03/31/09 at 09:43 pm in response to Chris Coleman will have challengers ... for mayor's race

Chris Coleman has clearly earned the nickname "Goldilocks" for his insistence that the amount of police violence during the RNC was "just right." Not only did he spearhead the drive to invite the Republicans to town, not only did he roll over and let Bob Fletcher bully people across multiple jurisdictions, not only has he lied about the huge financial losses to St Paul, but he still has not one word of apology for the loss of our freedoms during that time or after. He has, in fact,...

It may seem unfair to many who were not in downtown St Paul during the early days of September, but there is a depth of anger about the RNC that is not going away any time soon. In fact, Chris Coleman has said that he would "do things differently" if he could have a do-over, but he has not actually apologized for the massive paramilitary siege. More importantly, he has done everything he could to discourage any investigation that would include actions of the police or of Bob Fletcher's...

Posted on 02/20/09 at 01:25 pm in response to Chris Coleman's new campaign staff hints at higher office

Please, not Chris Coleman for governor. His handling of the entire Republican National Convention was a disaster from beginning to end.

Start with the false promises of economic boon to the city and sacred honoring of our civil liberties. Continue through the weak acquiescence to unpredictable and paranoid Ramsey County sheriff Bob Fletcher during the convention itself. Finish up with his "Goldilocks" conclusions that the amount of police violence was "just right" and that no...
