Actually, $700k of fines over seven years spread over, what, a half-dozen taconite mining operations does NOT sound like enough of a big deal on which to base the premise of this article. Is there an egregious actor? A particular practice that found to be in violation at several sites? You need some details.
Your point on safe sulphide mining not yet having been demonstrated is consistent with what I have read.
But none of those unnamed sources said, "Well, you never thought the GOP would let a woman be remain their front-runner, did you? But, she was good at revving up our base."

Good grief, Swift! The very next two sentences in the article you reference (rawstory.com) say:

This is one of those articles you want to send to "that idiot ". Unfortunately, as Lofgren himself laments, what remains of his party are the kool-aid drinkers, and those cynically mixing the brew.
How could it not be appropriate for Ramsey County citizens to vote on a taxing themselves? And, shouldn't it require a 67% majority to pass? Right, Republicans? Right?
How about, then, a supermajority in Ramsey county to levy that stadium sales tax? Sounds good to me.
I believe Sen. Franken does take to heart the state of our nation and the world quite seriously.
Either our representatives are criticized for being "in Washington, out of touch" or they are criticized for spending time in their states or districts.
Applause for Carver county for making good use of stimulus money for a good infrastructure project.
