It's interesting to view these familiar scenes through another person's eyes. How many of us just take in visual beauty when history and the opinions of others can make the experience so much more rich. A return to Minnehaha Falls is definitely on this summer's to-do list.

Blame everything on teachers. They're a popular target.

Joe Soucheray's bluster about the Burnsville school board's pay-out to a district employee to make her go away is off target. The person involved is not a teacher or even a "teacher type." She was the district's HR director.

Cheap shot Sooch...

I'm not seeing mixed messages on the solution. People are saying that we need a combination of spending cuts and tax increases on the wealthiest Minnesotans. That seems to be the governor's plan.

I think Kerri Miller formerly worked for KARE11 and KSTP, not KMSP...

Cyndy Brucato must be pushing 60. Diana Pierce is a little younger. Both are reaching close to the retirement zone of which you speak. (Don Shelby is just 63) Shelby's role at WCCO radio and TV has been phased out as well. Perhaps the women's hair dye has us all a bit psyched out. Cyndi Brucato talks about going back to her communications firm. Do you really think Don Shelby is going to sit in a rocking chair on his porch?

Thanks for this story, Joel.

This thoughtful analysis is exactly what I was hoping for from MinnPost, but what all of our media should be providing as well. Even when considering the most run-of-the-mill news release, journalists and their editors should ask, "What is it that this person or organization is trying to get me to say, is there something they are not telling me, or is there an important angle they are missing?"

Curiosity and skepticism should be the top...
