As a Minnesotan, I'm sorry to see Chris go. It's great to have public figures such as he willing to stick their necks out on the line when they are under no perssure to do so.
As a Vikings fan, I'm thankful for the good years he's given us, but understand the move. It's a tough business that unfortunately has little room for sentiment, as we've seen with the tough cuts of Longwell and Winfield in the last year.
Best of luck, Chris, with your next team. We'll be rooting for...
I was half hoping for a typo in this column so we could start a fresh round of knife-twisting. :)
Although obviously silly to be forced into the class in your case, it also sounds kinda fun, frankly.
I appreciate this debate, but personally am of the mind that folks who are smart enough to think through a sensitive issue such are generally smart enought to know satire when they see it. Kluwe's unedited letter ran on Deadspin, where the language he employed is de rigeour.
When he discussed it in other areanas (PiPress, MSNBC, etc.), he of course cleaned up the tone, but the message was the same.
I think the hand-wringing over the obscenities is unnecessary. He wrote for a...
The late '70s Yankees beg to differ, but I get your point.
As if we needed yet another reason to ignore his lazy analysis on...well, just about anything.
How's that legal challenge to the Twins stadium deal that a certain Strib columnist claimed flouted state law going? :)
Kevin, it would be a short conversation if we only talked about the things Gardy is going to do, as opposed to what he should do. The "should do but won't" list could take days to get through.
While I will credit Gardy with generally keeping an even keel in the clubhouse through a long season, this year in particular has exposed him as a strategic neophyte.
Kudos to Delmon -- this year he is showing the talent he has. I was this close to giving up on him entirely; I'm happy he's proving me wrong for doubting him
Mauer's numbers are down from his normal year, but he still has the third best line drive percentage in the AL. In other words, he's been unlucky this year in that a lot of those line drives have been hit right at people. When the averages do their thing, his stats will come back up.
Mr. Holtman, you've hit on it exactly -- does it say anything better for Emmer if this proposal is an act? Equally ugly in my eyes.
So much for a reasoned discussion this election season.
Hiram, I agree with everything you've stated -- unfortunately, style counts in elections. There is a certain chunk of voters who will vote for the person they would rather have a beer with, and there are enough of those voters to sway elections.
As I've said before: how many elections does the DFL have to lose before they figure this out? It ain't rocket science.
