MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
so gun control makes us "less free" but armed tactical officers in every public space doesn't?
Frankly, the goal of the right wing seems to be the complete militarization of American society.
Unlike pilots, teachers are not in a "very controlled environment." Pilots are in a locked, fortified cabin. Teachers are surrounded by their students, anyone or several of them whom could over power the teacher and steal the weapon.
Let's not forget that Nancy Lanza was armed to the teeth, and she was still killed with her own guns.
I'm sure it's quite easy for you to wait 20 years for some other group to gain their rights.
But try telling that 60 year old gay couple they have to wait another 20 years for their relationship to be recognized. They (and plenty others) are not exactly in a position to afford to wait.
What you view as "policy" others view as rights.
part of it was the fact that historically, polls have under reported opposition to same sex marriage. That gap has been falling, but until last night, has always been present. Even in California.
There was a lot of analysis during the last year that indicated that the actual unemployment figure was far less important than the trend in the numbers, which the last couple of years has favored Obama.
Some states still (or at least Indiana did, when I was in graduate school) have a one step straight party ticket option on the ballot.
of course, if you submitted an absentee, you can show up on election day and vote in person. In that case, the absentee ballot is pulled, and not counted. That's why absentee ballots are left uncounted until the others are counted.
It's true, that process won't cover someone voting in multiple states as Ms. Kohls posits, but then, neither will the voter amendment on the ballot.
Only a national voting regimen with either a single national database, or interlinked state...
Add the pedestrian walk signals as a full, exclusive cycle to the traffic signal.
In that cycle, pedestrians cross all four intersections, and even diagonally. Automobiles don't move at all: no right turn on red.
The same applies to pedestrians: no pedestrians move when cars are moving anywhere in the intersection.
This eliminates all car/pedestrian interactions (no pedestrians in a blind spot of a turning car, e.g.).
And it could actually reduce gridlock, as...
You have your logic backwards.
There is no need to "prove" atheism.
