uhm, Dennis:

Look up the scientific definition of "theory."

When you say that something is "only a theory" you're using the word as a replacement for what we scientists call a hypothesis.

Any scientific theory is subject to revision or replacement when sufficient data arises. Nothing in science is absolutely "settled," but by the time something is labeled a theory, there is broad consensus that it is the explanation that best fits the large quantity of available data...

Dennis wrote one of the most uninformed comments I've ever read about science. No consensus about anything in any other field? Wow. Germ theory? Evolution? quantum mechanics? That's just 2 seconds of thought Is there consensus about every detail of those? No. Do we pretend to know every detail about those? No. But neither do climate scientists.

Mr Michels, the concerns about global cooling involved different issues: particulate and sulfur pollution. In case you missed it, numerous...

BD, show us any kind of evidence that "illegals here illegally" are voting (while your at it, produce some sort of evidence that anyone here has proposed that said illegals should be allowed to vote). The Bush II administration spent 8 years desperately trying to find some, and couldn't.

The small numbers of registration fraud, and ineligible felons voting wouldn't even be addressed by the bill.

"Hmmmm, now the voice of the people is a waste of their money:"

and:

"Are we sure we are not taking a departure from democracy?"

Well, Obama won election to President in large part on an explicit campaign promise of health are reform. That didn't stop the GOP from doing everything in their power to prevent him from fulfilling that promise. Was that a departure from democracy?

And, in case you missed it, only 18% of Americans support repeal. If Obama was supposed...

The Miltona death story is moving around a lot. Bob Collins at MPR reports that the coroner has said the enlarged heart did not play a role in the death. Nor has the Sheriff's office ruled out suicide.

I thought Ensign had already indicated he planned to run again.

Last week support for repeal was 25%, this week, it's dropped to 18%.

It's interesting, a key stake holder in the debate that was a vehement opponent of alternative training route makes a significant shift in their position, and the lead GOPer's first thought is to compare them to the Gestapo, rather than seizing the opportunity to begin a dialog and negotiations.

Given the number of inadequate teachers that apparently make it through the traditional licensure route, I question how Erickson can be so confident that all of those going through an even...

"Yes, but most people don't translate that into banning something you fear."

Wrong. Conservatives desire to ban many things they fear.

"All of the women execs I know got their job because they earned them, not because of some government mandate. "

That's absolutely true, Dennis, because no such mandate exists.
