MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
I've always thought that we need a discussion on what government should do. The funding will take care of itself. The whole idea of "smaller government" is nothing but a conservative talking point. None of them can explain exactly what that means. It's aimed squarely at voters who cannot reason more than one level deep. It proves the kind of knee-jerk reactions that spawned the Tea Party.
On news sites like MinnPost, I'm sure we all vote every time. Most of us are able to string...
(1) why would the DFL need any GOP support, other than the DFL being insecure in their beliefs, which is completely believable
(2) Mary "Vote Fraud" Kiffmeyer: "“An early vote is an irreversible vote,” Kiffmeyer said. “You can’t change your vote.”
Uhh...you can't EVER change your vote. Once it's in the machine, it's DONE. Furthermore, should her opinion be even acknowledged? She's built an entire career out of making it harder to vote.
It was an epic takedown. One of the best things Stewart has done. He just completely dismantled everything O'Reilly was squawking about.
I think it's amusing how the only two wall pictures I can discern in that photo are of Ronald Reagan.
By all means, the GOP should continue flogging Reagan. People are turning 18 every day, and people for whom Reagan's presidency was relevant either die, don't remember Reagan, or don't care.
Living in the past is at the core of the Republican platform. I don't know when the party will be irrelevant at the presidential level. In 2008 we said it would happen by 2012. It didn'...
I think the DFL are likely to get tossed in 2014 regardless of what they do the next two years. That is how elections work; they're like pendulums.
That is why it's imperative for the DFL to pursue an aggressive, ambitious agenda NOW.
And hopefully the victory here (in both voter ID and marriage) will provide other states with a blueprint for defeating these abominations.
St Thomas isn't on this list. I figure their St Paul campus is mostly in W-4 P-7. Here are the results for that precinct:
No on marriage amendment: 73.79%
No on voter ID amendment: 68.13%
So slightly more liberal than the St Kate's precinct. To be expected, I suppose.
Also, and the article doesn't mention this, but it only refers to the *precinct* in which the campus sits. Those precincts also includes general population voters, not just college students. It...
There were many satisfactions Tuesday night. Among them is the rejection of essentially the entire career of Mary Kiffmeyer. She has spent most of her time in state government trying to make it harder to vote. And what does she have to show for it? Absolutely nothing.
Outstanding analysis by Jeremy Powers.
I think part of the surprise is that many of these marriage amendments have gained greater support across the country than the polling would suggest.
Last night was the first time in an election anywhere in which gay marriage was not defeated. And it happened four times!
