Posted on 01/18/12 at 04:46 pm in response to Paula Deen's new anti-diabetes campaign is hard to swallow

"just hope that Deen’s fans don’t take home the message that you can eat her type of cuisine and then, if you develop diabetes, “fix” it all with a pill."

A "lighter version" of her recipes or eating them in moderation is not going to cut it either. Paula Deen had three years to sort this out and all she has to show for it is a pill contract and continued denial?

Posted on 01/18/12 at 04:55 pm in response to Did Santorum win Iowa? Should you care?

The right answer should be no. Santorum got all that he was going to get out of it already and that was his brief flavor of the week turn. No delegates are binding from this. The only ones that care about the vote are the news media outlets chasing stories.

Posted on 01/12/12 at 01:33 pm in response to What do we know about Romney and Bain Capital?

The bottom line in all this is that this flack has boomeranged on Gingrich, Perry and the conservative wing of the Republican Party. Romney had actually been rather low-key in mostly just stating he was a businessman who knew how to create jobs. Now it comes out he made 88% return for investors during his tenure and had basically an 80% success rate with companies already in trouble. You cannot have those kind of returns and success without creating value in our economy. This net net is just...

If global warming started in the mid 50s or even earlier as some claim when our population was half, then there is absolutely no way we can mitigate it. That's the simple fact with 7 billion people growing to 10 billion needing a carbon footprint to exist. It's very simple math. Run the numbers. The only alternative is adaptation and figuring out the least disruptive way to adapt.

What's more important than fretting over global warming is husbanding our energy resources because they...

Putting it that way, economic freedom, free market, take from the rich and hardworking Americans, hardworking taxpayers, wanting careers, government waste, cooperation, I get it, job creators, we're all in together and occupy Washington; what part does the left and the Democrats not get?

Thumbs up!

Bachmann stayed resolute on her convictions and pointed out Pawlenty's conviction flaws. Pawlenty got defensive and was a bit too cute with his pre-planned comments. When you think about it, the, "Please stop - because you're killing us" was in retort to her standing up to Republican principles. What is the corollary to that? The net result in the Bachmann-Pawlenty exchange is she skewered him with a stick and deep-fried him. Pawlenty's done.

Keep blaming that "minority" tea party and diffuse the truth. Recent election results say differently. It is more than just the Tea Party.

No comics!!

Since I travel a lot I found the replica print e-Edition gave me more of a sense of home. The new app seems to be nothing more than a re-packaged web site edition which I already had access to on the iPad. What is missing is the editorial placement and the minutia. Was that article front page or page 8?

The West Extra was missing today which is a major reason for wanting to read a local newspaper vs a more national source.

The print ads from the replica e-...

I hope the Star Tribune is monitoring this.

One thing missing about e-Edition apps is they show the publish date but do not indicate which print issue the article appeared in. I would like that little bit of information.

MinnPost, BTW, would be a better fit than print newspapers as an app on the iPad.
