Based on the picture above, the Coleman campaign couldn't have found a whiter, older, grumpier looking group of supporters if they tried. That picture speaks volumes about the (apparent lack of) future for the Republican Party.

I don't know if this is related but our next door neighbor's black walnut tree produced no walnuts for the first time in the 13 years I've lived there.

Posted on 11/25/08 at 03:52 pm in response to FiveThirtyEight.com: Franken's recount challenges are higher quality

A comparison of David's article to that found in the Strib is point number one why the dead tree version of the news is becoming less and less relevant to this reader.

David mentions Brodkorb's complaints about 538.com but then points out 538's Nate Silver's accuracy in the predicting the results of the presidential election. The Strib just mentions Brodkorb's complaints without any of the background.

Which article provided more context and information to the reader to make...

It's been said a million times but I hope there is a special place in sports Hell for McHale and company for wasting the opportunity they had with KG. The MV3 year (and last year in Boston) demonstrated that if you just surround KG with good players who can play specific roles, that team will do damage in the NBA. I'm not saying the T-wolves had to have the equivalent of Paul Pierce and Ray Allen during the KG years but man what could have been.... (excuse me while I weep for a moment). I...

The way I understand it, the 43 net votes for Franken is outside the 221 challenged votes. In other words those votes count and the challenged votes are put aside. Until the end. I am guessing if one of the candidates has a lead over and above the number of challenged votes, the loser will concede because even if all challenged votes went their way, the final result wouldn't change.

Basically then I disagree with John above and I think it is fair to say that Franken moved 43 votes...

What? There were no lawyers or teams of volunteers looking over this site? As someone who may miss out on a free lunch due to a "technicality," I'm outraged.

Thus far, Black has shown no evidence of misconduct. But many Minn-Post readers are questioning the openness and transparency of the vote tally that just ended.

I thought that some of Reusse's comments were boorish too but I think you missed the point of his article.

Beside's bashing the arts, I think Reusse's point was that with a sales tax increase of .375 coupled with the metro transportation sales tax increase and the Twins ballpark sales tax increase in Hennepin County, voters are going to be quite leery of adding yet ANOTHER sales tax increase for the Vikings stadium and that this type of funding mechanism may be tapped out for the near...

Hey Jon Larson, what did you expect from the DFL? This is a party that nominated the likes of Roger Moe and Mike Hatch for Governor when it had two candidates (Dutcher, Kelley) who would have absolutely crushed in the general election.

Nominating candidates who can win statewide is apparently not really an objective for the DFL.

Actually recent polls show Obama has a big lead, but the media isn't reporting it. Below is a link to a recent ABC/Washington Post Poll that shows Obama with a 10 point lead (w/Bob Barr; 8 points with no Bob Barr). However, neither news organization choose to highlight this fact in the reporting of their own polling data. Perhaps big news organizations want a horse race (or an appearance of a horse race) to maintain interest and thus advertising?
