MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.

All 6 real dems won handily. Polls show that at least 3 and probably 5 or all 6 of the republicans are going to lose the recall next month. Keep a keen eye on what is happening in Wisconsin Minnesota Republicans, this is your fate in 16 months.
Yeah it's tough for the Republicans to sell something that 55 percent of the State's residents oppose.
I fear that MPS is caving into the political pressure brought forth by alums and others, who while have good intentions, are blinded by the fact that they want to recapture the North High School of old and aren't acknowledging that North isn't meeting the needs of current North Minneapolis families.
Reaching 42 percent of an attendance goal is not something to celebrate or look upon with anything but failure.
The fact is that families of high school age students have made...
It the South had become its own country I think the North would have become more of a social democracy, much like Canada or northern European Countries. The south would have been a very rural, mostly poor, agricultural based economy. All industry would be located in the north. Moving into the 20th Century and if the South had kept slavary it would have become a pariah country, much like the RSA in the later 20th Century. It may have aligned with Hitler but given that it probably would...
Great article. I'd love to see what the growth patterns were for the region from 2000-2005 and 2005 to 2010. My guess is that most of that 10 percent growth took place in the first half of the decade while the latter half saw stagnant if not reduced outer edge growth. High gas prices and changing values of persons in mid-20's and early should help stabilize the inner core of the metro area.
Have you heard Andrew Bird's latest album? I wish it had received more negative editorials.
I'm in the nearly 86 percent of those 25-54 who don't watch local news. I'm sorry newsies but you offer nothing that I want to watch. I get my sports from on-line or ESPN, all I want from the weather is about 60 seconds telling me what it's going to be like in the next few days, and the news is dreadful. I don't care if someone got hit by a care in Brooklyn Park or another bank robbery at a Cub TCF.
I agree the oldersters are shocked by this. When I told my mother that I watch the...
zzzzzz. Has so many words been written about a subject that impacts so few people?
"In fact, the biology teachers least likely to teach creationism work in Catholic schools."
I have two children going through the Academy of Holy Angels and I can confirm that creationism is not being taught in the biology classes there. Straight-up evolution. That includes Intro to Biology and AP Biology.
Republican majorities were bought and paid for by The Chamber of Commerce. Now those same republicans are going to find out that some of their constituents have different priorities than the Chamber. Most contractor's typically vote Republican, I would love to be in those meetings when they tell their rep, that a bonding bill means private sector jobs.
